For whatever reason, if you decide to transfer your domain name from your current Registrar, there are some conditions that apply.
- A domain name that is less than 60 days old, or has been transfered before a 60 day time limit is over, will not be permitted to transfer
- If you have placed a ‘lock’ on your domain name from your existing control panel, no transfer will be permitted unless you unlock that domain
- If your current Domain Registrar has placed a ‘lock’ or ‘hold’ on your domain name for a reason or dispute, you are required to sort this out first before a transfer can take place
- If a domain name is in the ‘Redemption Period’ or ‘Pending Delete’ state, the domain name will not be transferred
Once you have determined that your domain name can be transfered, you will have to initiate the process with your new chosen ‘Registrar’. In some cases you will require a Domain (Transfer) Secret/Authorization Code to complete the transfer process.
When you have confirmed the desire to transfer with your New Registrar, the old Registrar will receive information about this intended move. Generally, the domain owner will then be sent a confirmation email by the existing Registrar, acknowledging the receipt of a transfer request, and giving the domain owner a few days to decline the move. Once this waiting period is over, the domain name will be transferred to the new Registrar.
